KATE DOWD is currently a graduating senior majoring in Communication and double minoring in Cinematic Arts and Digital Studies, and she serves as the Events Chair for a multiracial club on campus called Mixed SC. Growing up on the North Shore of O'ahu in Hawa'ii, which the only U.S. state to have White people as a minority population with around 60% AAPI population. She wondered why the types of people she was surrounded with never were represented on the screens of movies or television shows she watched, and continues to study representation in media and entertainment.
MARII KRUEGER is sophomore at USC studying Communication and Digital Studies. She was born in Japan and is half-Japanese, but grew in in Arizona around a largely white community and had little influence and positive representation of her Asian American femininity growing up.. Upon coming to Los Angeles for university, she became part of Japanese American and mixed race student organizations and wanted to do more for these communities through projects such as #HumanizeUs.
